The eagled-eyed among you may have noticed a new menu item on my home page – it says: SHOP! Yes, my friends, after declaring almost a year ago that I was going to do this, I am now finally launching The Stationer. I hope you like it!

You may know that this year hasn’t been easy, in fact it’s been the hardest of my life, hence why I’ve not been posting here as much as I’d like to, and why the shop has taken quite so long to launch. But it’s here now and I’m really proud of it! I thought in this post I would anticipate questions that some people may have, so here it goes…

What is it? In short, a stationery store. Mainly notebooks, pencils (no pens yet – but soon!) and giftwrap. I’m starting with a few brands that I really like; Copenhagen-based Kartotek, London-based Katie Leamon, along with some bits from Japanese brands Penco and Midori, and Korean brand Iconic.

You don’t have much stock yet – will you be adding? Absolutely! I have so many ideas and so many things I want to add, but as I’ve funded the shop myself, there was only so much stock I could buy to start with. I hope to be adding lots and lots more over the next few months, and then eventually start manufacturing my own designs.

Where will you be shipping to? For now, just while I get up and running I’m only shipping to UK. I promise I’ll open it up to the world when I’m more on my feet!

What does this mean for All Things Stationery? This is a question I’ve wrestled with a lot over the last few months. The blog links to the shop, and vice versa, but I do also want to keep them kind of separate. I still want ATS to be somewhere that I can write about stationery objectively. I will, of course, occasionally mention The Stationer, and feature products it sells, but I will also still be posting my normal content too. It’ll be a balance that I have to work out as I go, I think.

WHY? Well, it just seemed like the next logical step to me. I have been writing about stationery for almost 3 years now and I feel like I have a fairly good knowledge of what’s out there. Without wanting to sounds pretentious, I think I can curate a pretty good collection of items that I hope other people would like too.

Is this your job now? NOPE. I wish. I’m still working full time as a university administrator so will be juggling The Stationer with that. Obviously it would be great to one day work for myself, but I’ll just have to see how it all pans out.

I think that’s everything… But do feel free to ask any questions you have! Do visit The Stationer if you have a minute – feedback welcomed! And you can also find us on Instagram and Twitter too. Oh, and you can get 10% off using the code ATS10 🙂
