Diamine Beethoven
What better way to end National Stationery Week than with an ink review. The guys at Wick & Hide got in touch with me recently to tell me about their ink sampling service. You can either buy a set of samples from a certain brand, e.g. Diamine, J.Herbin or they have a monthly ink sampling society where they send a sample of different inks.

I think this is such a good idea! Often buying a whole bottle of ink can seem like a bit of a gamble so this is the perfect solution – try before you buy! I’ll be reviewing the samples I got over the next few weeks, starting with Diamine Beethoven.

I wouldn’t normally choose such a dark green but I love the amount of shade in this ink. I tried it out with a dip pen, as usual, and it worked a treat. It’s thick enough that you don’t have to re-dip too often.

It doesn’t feather at all on this Clairefontaine Triomphe paper – I’m really impressed! I don’t have any green inks that aren’t shimmery so I think I definitely need a more everyday one. There were another couple of greens in my sample pack so I’ll be able to compare and contrast once I’ve had a chance to try the others. I’ll keep you posted!

You can get individual 2ml samples from £1.50 and Ink Sampling Society packages are £8, with 5 2ml samples. Find out more here.
